Adiabatic
Temperature change without heat exchange with the surroundings
An adiabatic change of state occurs without heat exchange with the surroundings. In meteorology, this is particularly important for rising or sinking air.
Dry adiabatic lapse rate: 1°C per 100m Moist adiabatic lapse rate: 0.5-0.6°C per 100m (reduced by latent heat of condensation)
